SwarmCraft helps you get operational work done, automate suitable tasks, and build applications when you need them. You bring your knowledge of the work; SwarmCraft gives your AI assistant the skills and structure to help you carry it out.
You can start with one useful task in Operate, without first defining an application or completing discovery. If you already know you need an app, go directly to Fast Start or Deep Discovery.
Start with everyday work
Operate works in a local repository through VS Code and your chosen supported AI provider. Describe what you want to get done and bring a safe example, such as a fictional service request to classify or a sanitised list to organise.
Three skills support the work:
- Work helps complete the task and maintains the terminology, knowledge, systems, rules, and records learned along the way.
- Automate helps make a suitable task repeatable, with tests, review, and recovery before consequential changes. It can be useful after the first example; there is no required task count.
- Formalise turns reviewed operational evidence into a bounded application opportunity when building an app would help.
You approve operational meaning and outcomes; SwarmCraft maintains the technical model that represents them. You do not need to design CSV tables or describe your whole business before doing useful work.
Operate is free, with SwarmCraft sign-in required to set up or update the repository. Your AI provider's charges apply separately. Approved work is checkpointed locally in Git, without an automatic push. Use safe inputs: local files may be processed by your AI provider, and Git history can retain information you commit.
Build an application when it helps
SwarmCraft helps you define a focused application rather than reproduce an entire SaaS suite feature for feature. Operate is not a prerequisite, and you can keep using it without ever creating a project.
The best SwarmCraft projects usually start with work that is:
- repetitive enough to define clearly
- painful enough to justify replacing
- focused enough to ship safely
- bounded enough to assign real ownership, continuity, and review
Fast Start keeps the existing system of record and plans the focused workflow around it. Deep Discovery can examine a broader coherent operation, including bounded records, when evidence, migration risk, and operating responsibility support that boundary.
Who SwarmCraft fits best
SwarmCraft fits operators, founders, managers, consultants, and internal champions who understand their work and can review its outcomes. You can start with a concrete task and discover the broader workflow as you go.
When an application is needed, an accountable owner must help define its boundaries and decide which systems remain trusted sources of records.
How the flow works
Start with Operate for local operational work, or choose one of the two application-discovery routes:
- Fast Start: use a focused guided conversation and confirm a bounded handoff when the workflow and existing system-of-record boundary are already clear.
- Deep Discovery: use sources, owner interviews, and nine reviewed documents before previewing and authorizing one exact text package.
Both routes create one project and initial board through private server generation, then move into the same board and VS Code delivery loop. Their credit quotes differ because Deep Discovery coordinates more evidence and context.
If you come from Operate, Formalise can prepare selected evidence for Deep Discovery. Approval of that evidence is not permission to upload it or purchase a project: source review, package consent, and project creation remain separate decisions.
Creating an app does not end local Work or automatically replace an existing system. The new app is a candidate until you approve its role, any record migration, and how to recover if the transition fails. Continue operational work through Work and use the project delivery workflow to change the application.
What SwarmCraft is not
SwarmCraft is not a promise to replace accounting ledgers, identity infrastructure, payroll, regulated clinical records, or other high-liability systems without the migration, reconciliation, continuity, compliance, support, observability, and rollback work that responsible ownership requires.
It is also not a managed runtime that takes over your infrastructure, release process, or operating responsibility. Project creation produces a project board and implementation tasks, not a finished or hosted application. Your business still chooses how the app is built, reviewed, deployed, and run.
What setup usually looks like
Choose the setup path that matches what you want to do:
- Operate: prepare your machine, open a trusted local folder in VS Code, and run SwarmCraft: Start or Reconcile Operate. Sign in, choose your AI provider, and review the setup. Use Continue Work to copy the command for your first task.
- Fast Start: begin in the browser and confirm the guided workflow summary.
- Deep Discovery: prepare your machine, sign in to SwarmCraft, and start discovery in a trusted local Git repository. A project is not required to begin.
For either application route, review the quote and approve credit use after completing the required review. Then connect and build the resulting project through the shared delivery workflow.
For the supported machine path, download SwarmCraft Setup and follow Use SwarmCraft Setup. Setup does not create or connect a project.
